Melanie Delon

Melanie Delon is a digital artist. She discovered Photoshop in 2005 and is inspired by fantasy and science fiction.

She creates front covers for publications such as ImagineFX and I love the detail in her digital paintings.

My favourite painting by Melanie so far is her take on the Lady of Shalott, with a steampunk twist.

The detail is just amazing and there’s so much to look at.

Happily, Melanie has two hardback art books published by Heavy Metal in her Elixir series:

Elixir

Elixir #2: Sparkle of Shadows

Unusual Wedding Favours

When I was scouring the internet for ideas for wedding favours, I used to regularly stalk A Wedding Less Ordinary, for obvious reasons. They have a variety of unique and elegant favours.

If perhaps you’re having a vintage or Alice in Wonderland themed wedding, these pretty tea cup and tealights would be a delightful complement.

These decorative birdcage favours can be filled with your choice of confection or candle, or double as a place card holder.

Fairytale or princess theme? How about this Cinderella slipper candle?

I love these elegant damask wedding cake candles.

Or perhaps you’re more of a Snow White? These Apple of My Eye favours are available from Lady Primrose Weddings.

Butterflies are always a popular theme and these cute little Butterfly Design Bookmarks would fit that theme wonderfully.

We opted for these pretty personalised candle favours from In The Pink Candles. They offer a wide range of personalised candles for a variety of occasions and in a range of colours. They were also really pleasant to deal with.

Romantic Fantasy Toasting Flutes

Our dragon toasting flutes looked stunning on our wedding day and fitted in so perfectly with our theme. We got them from Magical Omaha who were lovely to deal with and included a really nice card with our flutes.

They now have pride of place in our display cabinet in the kitchen and I thought they deserved their own blog post, along with the other beautiful toasting flutes available from them and also places like Crystal Realm.

I’m sure they have toasting flutes and chalices that would be perfect for your fantasy or gothic themed wedding and it’s great that you have a choice of glass colour.

We displayed ours next to our cupcake tower, but these pewter and glass flutes will be striking wherever you display them.

Spooky Candles

For the Goth/Hallowe’en themed wedding, a brilliant touch would be some Weeping Rose Candles. These black candles are wicked because they drip red wax when they burn giving a very dramatic and horror-tastic effect. There are lots of stockists of these candles, such as Witchcraft Shoppe, which you can buy as pillar or taper candles. They would look fantastic in a gothic candelabra, like these from Funky Flower Company:

I also really like these fun bat silhouette gothic lanterns!

These Hallowe’en candles by Black Candles Online are also really cute.

For the more romantic gothic theme, check out these gothic rose holders by Alchemy Gothic:

Gothic rings

I was poking about on the internet for some unusual wedding rings, and whether or not you would choose to have this ring for your masquerade themed wedding, I just loved this ring by Alchemy Gothic!

Some other darkly romantic rings by Alchemy Gothic that caught me eye…..

Also while I was looking, I came across this great article on gothic wedding rings where this gorgeous garnet ring featured:

This ring is available from Glint and there are some lovely rings on there with a variety of gemstones.

Quirky Cupcakes

Following my recent caketastic post, I got a bit addicted to looking at unusual wedding cakes and started to look around for some quirky cupcakes!

Do you like Hello Kitty and zombies? How about these cupcakes?

Aren’t they fabulous? I found them on Little Sweeties Cupcakes’ Flickr photostream!

Or, how about falling down the rabbit hole and having an Alice in Wonderland themed cupcake tower?

This was another Flickr find, this time courtesy of Natalie Bode‘s photostream.

Staying with the Wonderland theme, Molly Bakes also does fantastic cupcakes.

She has also done Hallowe’en themed cupcakes….

Many of you out there, like me, will be addicted to the game Plants Vs Zombies. Check out these fantastic cupcakes by The Bunny Baker!

Nightmare Before Christmas is always a popular gothic wedding theme and these character cupcakes by MonnsterCakes are wicked!
